The wood has a nice weight to it that the cardboard tokens just don't, and they feel way better to shuffle around during a big game. Twenty of them is plenty for our six-player nights without running short mid-round.
Bought these as a backup for when we have more than four players, and the extra wooden tokens are a lifesaver since the original cardboard ones get worn fast. They match the game's size well enough that we don't mix them up mid-round.
The wooden pieces have a solid, satisfying heft that the cardboard originals just don’t match. I grabbed these to bump our Finspan sessions to five players, and they blend right in with the board.
