Rolling Realms Promo: Stamp Swap vs Risky Rewards Compared

Quick answer

Choose Stamp Swap if you want more realm variety and new scoring puzzles; choose Risky Rewards if you want to change how every round feels without adding new realms. Both require the Rolling Realms core game.

What each promo actually changes at the table

Stamp Swap is a set of six promo cards inspired by Stamp Swap, so it expands the realm options you can draft and play. That means new spatial or set-collection puzzles to learn and fit into your existing realm mix.

Risky Rewards works differently: it gives players special rewards to activate when the time is right, gaining extra resources or stars. At the start of each round two of the six rewards are randomly selected, and all players share access to those same two rewards, each usable once per round. One example reward lets you use both rolled numbers in the same realm.

The trade-off: variety vs shared tension

Stamp Swap adds long-term variety because each new realm is another option for future games, but it also adds rules overhead and table space as you learn fresh layouts. Risky Rewards adds almost no setup complexity, yet it changes the decision space every round because the shared rewards are random and limited to one use each.

If your group loves exploring new realm combinations, Stamp Swap rewards that. If your group prefers tight, interactive rounds where everyone watches the same opportunities, Risky Rewards delivers that tension with less to teach.

Where each promo can fall flat

Stamp Swap may disappoint players who already have a favorite realm mix and don't want to learn new scoring conditions. Risky Rewards may frustrate players who dislike random round-to-round variation or who prefer planning around fixed realm abilities rather than temporary bonuses.

Neither promo is a standalone game; both require the Rolling Realms core game, and neither replaces the base realms. If you are new to Rolling Realms, learn the core game first before adding either.

Trade-offs at a glance

• Stamp Swap: More realms, more to learn: Six new realm cards expand your options, but each one adds new rules and scoring conditions to teach and track. Best if your group enjoys discovering new realm combinations over many sessions.
• Risky Rewards: Shared bonuses, less setup: Two random rewards each round, usable once by each player, add tactical decisions without new realm cards. Best if you want round-to-round variety with minimal rules overhead.
• Which to buy first: If you want permanent variety, start with Stamp Swap. If you want to change the feel of every round immediately, start with Risky Rewards. Both require the core game; neither is a standalone expansion.
