東海道はタイムトラック機構を特徴としており、道のりで最も後方にいるプレイヤーがアクティブプレイヤーとなります。アクティブプレイヤーになったとき、自分の駒を好きなだけ前方に進めることができ（宿場での停車が必要）、それぞれの固有の場所でさまざまな種類のセットコレクション特典を得られます。
The tension of choosing whether to rush ahead or linger at each stop makes every turn feel meaningful. I've never played a game where stopping to eat or soak in a hot spring was a legitimately smart move. The art alone makes it worth the table space.
We played this as a trio and the way everyone’s paths cross on the same road makes each turn a quiet little puzzle. The artwork on the board and cards really sells the whole journey from Kyoto to Edo, and even the simple act of choosing when to stop at an inn feels meaningful.
I grabbed this for a quiet game night and the artwork alone makes me want to travel Japan. The pace is so chill compared to other games I own, and the way you choose between moving far or stopping to collect souvenirs keeps every turn interesting.
