The sci-fi and fantasy civs breathe so much life into the base game, and the new tech paths make every playthrough feel wildly different. I’ve already run three games back-to-back just to try out the alternate future technologies, and each one had me rethinking my whole strategy.
The new civ abilities slot into the base game so cleanly it feels like they were always meant to be there, and my group has already fought over who gets the sci-fi ones first. The tech tree branches add just enough chaos to keep even our most experienced player on their toes.
The dual sci-fi and fantasy civs really shake up the draft, since picking one feels like committing to a whole different tech path. I've played three games in a row and each had a completely distinct mid-game because of it.
